Two Town Treasures: William and Ida Friday
Thursday, October 2 2008
5:30 - 7:30pm
The Chapel Hill Historical Society will unveil the charter class of its new "Town Treasures" commemorations. Town Treasures are outstanding senior citizens who have made or documented Chapel Hill-Carrboro history. Their contributions and examples help us to link the past with the present.
Award-winning local photographer Catharine Carter has photographed twelve of our Town Treasures for this premier class. These black and white photos will be displayed at the Chapel Hill Museum, with an opening reception to honor the recipient's years of achievement. Each portrait captures a Town Treasure at home or a location that reflects his or her contributions to our community. Accompanying each photograph is a written reflection of the Town Treasure on Chapel Hill's past and future.
The recognition of Town Treasures will be an annual program of the Historical Society and will be exhibited at the Chapel Hill Museum, acknowledging gratefully the contributions that so many individuals make to our community through long years of extraordinary service.
