Past Events: An Afternoon with Susan Soleil, Master Bookbinder
May 14, 2009, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
The Museum's Gift and Book Shop presents an afternoon with master bookbinder Susan Soleil. In three hourly presentations at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 pm, Ms. Soleil will speak briefly about caring for books and how to determine whether a book is a candidate for repair or restoration.
Each talk will be followed by a 45-minute period during which she will evaluate, free of charge, up to three books per person, and will give advice about repair, restoration, archiving, and storage of each book.
Twenty percent of the cost of any repairs or restorations ordered during the afternoon will help support the Museum's Shop (personal checks are preferred, though Visa and MasterCard can be accepted).
All repairs and restorations are done with 100% archival materials that will last for generations.
For more information, please contact the Chapel Hill Museum Gift and Book Shop at 929-SHOP (929-7467).
