"Christmas Cactus" Roger Blanchard has been honing his talent since elementary school, when he was often moved to practice his art in place of math. His first notable recognition as an artist came in 1958 when he won first place in a contest for his rendering of a "one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater." Roger lives and paints in Pittsboro, NC, and says there is no need for retirement "I'd only want to spend lots of time painting and going to races and auto shows - and that's what I already do."
