"The Crab" Donald Wood was born and raised in Chicago then lived, studied and worked and played in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, California and Hawaii before retiring to Durham. Although he enjoyed sketching, cartooning and poster making as a youth, he earned his living in media education and administration. After retiring in 1998, he picked up his brush and palette and returned to dabbing in watercolors.
