Doug Eyre, a retired geography professor at UNC-Chapel Hill, has resided in Chapel Hill for over 50 years. He is noted for his wonderful historical writings in The Chapel Hill News documenting the history of the town and its people. The Chapel Hill Historical Society included him in their first class of "Town Treasures" in 2008.
