Tommy Edwards has been a guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter with The Bluegrass Experience for all of its 37 years. Chapel Hillians and Carolina alums may remember The Experience's 9-year stint of weekly (Thursday night) performances at The Cat's Cradle when it was on West Rosemary Street. The lyrics of his song "Holy Smoke" are featured in the frontispiece of the recent publication of "Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbeque" by John Shelton Reed and Dale V. Reed for UNC Press.
