 | Rebecca Clark. This original work, painted by David Taylor, depicts Mrs. Rebecca Clark casting her ballot. At age 93, Mrs. Clark continues to be a community activist, an eloquent speaker and a source of knowledge and inspiration to all. A native North Carolinian, she recalls her life in the days of segregation, working for $1 a day in the 1930's as a housekeeper at Old East on the campus of UNC. Among all the causes for which Mrs. Clark devoted her energies, "voting rights" has always been at the forefront. She made it her mission in the recent presidential election to get people registered and to the polls.
